The human mind is like a ship. Able to explore the realms of what is and is not. Some use it to tackle the puzzles of the universe. Others create new worlds and entertain us with stories of the fantastic. Some even use it to try and fathom the un-fathomable mind of God.

I believe it is not only a right but a duty to use ones mind to explore every possibility of human experience. From the heroic rescue fantasies of youth to the lonely abandon of the elderly. From the glory that is war to the atrocity that is war. From the passion of lovers to the vengeance of enemies. From the violent lust of a serial killer to the hopeless plight of a victim. Only with this may we truly understand each other and ourselves.

As in all journeys there are hazards. Some fear the hazards so greatly they forbid any to venture forth. To those who wish to tend the home fires of safety I wish them well and thank them for their beacon. But do not block the way for those of us who dare to forge into the darkness to know what is there.
