Do
you believe in magic? A local Nevada magician by the name of Rocco is about
to enter a world that exists somewhere between fantasy and reality. A world
in which the line that separates the real from the surreal is but a blur.
Today, Rocco is going to rehearse
a new stage effect for his routine. An effect that he hopes will transport
him from the mundane, to something special. As he reads the instruction
manual to the prop, a small guillotine, his pulse subconciously begins
to race as he anticipates what he is going to do to his unsuspecting assistant.
"Hey, Lissa! Come here a
minute. I need you for something!"
Interupted
from dressing for the evening's performance by Rocco's call, Lissa strolls
into the room, eyeing both Rocco and the guillotine suspiciously.
"Just what, may I ask, is
this thing? Where did you get it, and what's it doing in here?"
"It's a guillotine, of course.
I want to feature it in the show tonight, but we've got to do a quick rehearsal
just to make sure that it works."
Immediately
remembering past mishaps with Rocco's illusion rehearsals, Lissa reacts
quickly to his intentions.
"You think I'm going to
let you lock me into that thing and shove that blade through my neck? Ha!
You must be crazy! You think I don't remember the last time you almost
skewered me when you bought that Sword Box illusion?"
"C'mon, lissa You know we need a new effect to finish the show. This'll be great! Look, it's perfectly safe. The blade slides along the side of the handle. It doesn't really go through your neck."
